Sodality is primarily a service organization, but we are also a social one. It is open to any woman in the parish who is at least 18 years of age. Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Parish Center basement. Occasionally the time and/or meeting place will change due to the program being presented (i.e. outdoor mass & picnic held at a member's house, Christmas dinner).
Our income comes from dues, donations, Rada Cutlery sales, and Kroger cards. The biggest expense to the Sodality and maybe not known to the congregation is providing the hosts and wine for St. Columbkille and Holy Name Chapel. 98% of our expenditures are parish related or charitable donations.
Most of the parish receptions are hosted by the Sodality women. This past year's receptions included RCIA Welcoming after Easter Vigil, Jesus Day snacks, High School Graduation Breakfast, St. Vincent DePaul Breakfast, and Yearly Retreat for the Ladies of the Church.
Sodality works closely with the Faith Formation program in providing gifts for Confirmation and First Communion children and high school graduates. The group also embroiders baptismal cloths for St. Columbkille and Holy Name. This past year monetary gifts were donated to the American Heritage Girls, Red Cross, Clinton County Right to Life, Habitat for Humanity, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Community Care Hospice. Other charitable acts Sodality women have participated in are: donating supplies to the Wilmington Area Human Society, donating food for St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, giving Christmas gifts for those on the Sunday Communion shut-ins list, Sunshine activities (cards, flowers for sick and shut-ins; committee visits to our shut-ins, Masses for members who die), and preparing lunch for Habitat for Humanity. We have also provided refreshments at the blood drive, and for the Clinton County Youth Council's after school program for several years.
